Translated Poem : My Country and Me

~Nirmal Tamang~
Translation : Raja Puniani

Only to boost own development rate
My beloved country works hard.
And keeps me abreast of her development rate.

I am ruined
For I am abandoned
From my due right to enjoy a share thereof.

She never discloses the secret
Of her soaring development index
In any of the quarterly reports.

Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan
My country is in confusion
Whether she is slept or woken
She rocks her head to anlyse.

The renowned tycoon
Who intends to sow his factory
In my paddy field
Tells at the ear of my country-
Dream. Its dream only.

Government rules out the formation of JPC
For the ever biggest corruption-
This news is over
As of now, I am watching a news-piece
Which warns of the probable arrival of tsunami.

I am resolute to slay this Government
On that very day
When the entire media is collapsed
By tsunami.

Note
Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan- An old slogan of Indian Government which is aimed at flattering Jawan (soldier) and Kisaan (farmer).
