Translated Poem : In the Farmyard

~Gyanendra Khatiwada~
Translation : Raja Puniani

Separating paddy from the straw
Two oxen are rotating around an axis
In the farmyard

I also rotate walking behind them
Holding a stick in my hand

No, three oxen are rotating around the axis

Untiringly I am also toiling
Like these oxen
I am working only for the sake of working

I am an ox of the oxen
Because oxen owe the straw
When straw and paddy are divided
The feudal owes the paddy
When paddy and straw are divided

And I get the entire farmland
As my share
Merely to toil on.
