Translated Poem : An Ode to God

~Gopal Bhandari~
Translation : Raja Puniani

You jolted the consciousness
In the dawn of civilization.

You started rising with the sun.
You started shining from within
The lightning.
You started soaring in the pitchblende cloud
Along with colossal storm.

You started dancing
On the reckless waves vomited out by earth.

Pity! Spellbound was
Astonished human.

You looted
You raped
The virginity of the creation
And after the pregnancy of thousands of years
You were born
O god!

O lord!
You became meta-natural
You formless, you absolute!
Human was awestruck.

You became Buddha, Zarathustra
Jesus, Rams, Krishna, Mohammad, etc. etc.
You exceeded thirty three million impotent
Human was speechless!

You entwined with the rope of fear
The born-free human brain.
You entrapped the Ganga of knowledge
That would never flow again.

You irrigated the dry infertile land of hollowness
You fooled the rational and intellect
You tamed them to plough

You ploughed a lot
The human brain

The crop of superstition
Grew in plenty

Reality was chased out
Technology was chased out

The earth was thankful to you
Human race was grateful to you

You are great
You are superb
O God!
