Translated Poem : The Tiger

~Manu Majil~
Translated by : Poet himself

It’s quite certain now that some day soon
papers will carry the news
of the tiger’s exodus to history.

The beauty beyond touch will be no more.
The caverns beyond reach will be no more.
Shadowy secrets will lie scattered in the sunlight
None will wander far, fire in the eyes.
None will bellow out syllables of destruction.
Challenges will drain away, conflicts will die away.
An enormous strength will be no more.
The green trees and leaves alone
will not be able to guard the splendor of the jungle.
The jungle will be a story deserted by its hero.

The jungle star of ancient anger will cease to be.
The tide of the green sea will sink to the lowest.
Children too will be brave enough to swarm into the jungle for games
The jungle will unroll itself, a numb, dumb expanse.
The fuel of darkness, the density of fear will die away.

The man who has left home for victory will now shamble in vacancy.
The stage of tragedy will be left void.
And man will get lost amidst tiny weaknesses.
