Poem : Dim Sleep

~Sanjay Rai~Sanjay Rai

There was the continuous
Gush of winds
Blowing in and out
Simmering the rhythms of life

Surface raising high and falling low
Words slowly withering life the autumn leaves
And I see those twilights of eyes
Eclipsed in the gesture of those falling lids

Sleeping in a posture
Like an abstract art on the wall
Or should I say it was the mimic
Of the on going battle in and out

Those hands trying hard to hold that book
Occasionally letting it rest on the belly
Those body trying hard to stay present
Occasionally drifting to dream far away.

(This was the scene of a woman trying hard to study sitting on the sofa. 20th September 2004.)
