Translated Poem : On Wife’s Sicness

~Kishore Pahadi~Kishor Pahadi
Trans : Gopi Sapkota

Taking the tea dust
From the tea packet,
I put it in curry,
Thinking it was spices!
While holding it carefully,
The bowl slips on the floor
Scattering the things around
Slice of potato
Why does its shape look different?
It becomes a real potato
Should I put it in oil or not?
Should I put water over lentil
Or lentil in the water?
How much salt should I use?
Is this the powder of chilies or turmeric?
Cumin or coriander?
As you are sick,
I come to the kitchenGopi Sapkota
Where do I start your regular work?
Easy to blame on taste
Easy to say it’s more salty
It’s difficult for me
To put the salt and taste together in the pot.
Taking the salt from the salt packet,
I put it in the tea,
Thinking it was sugar!
